About

Hi, my name is Alexander Hormann.

Passing on something positive for others to take with them on their journey,
is what I consider the meaning of life.

As a teacher for mathematics and physical education at a boarding school in Holzminden, Germany, I am trying my best to do this purpose justice – although I know that it is debatable whether math or sports is something positive.

Besides my main job, I feel a strong passion for long distance hiking, writing and nature photography. I first combined all three things while thruhiking the 4,270 km long Pacific Crest Trail in 2018 – an incredible experience, that I am very grateful for, because it changed my life in many positive ways.

Showcasing the beauty of nature, that I was lucky witnessing, to inspire others, motivated me to have my first travel photo book published in 2020 and later to take my sister, my girlfriend and even my students for a hike into the European mountains.

After every return from my adventures I struggled to find an equal amount of beauty in my everyday surroundings driving me to visit the mountains far from home again whenever possible.

During a walk in the woods very close to my home in April 2021 an unexpected encounter with some tiny fox pups gave me the impetus to permanently change my perspective. Now I can see the beauty of nature almost everywhere I go.

I hope my images encourage you to do so as well!
